Shannon May Mckenzie is a talented, brilliant, sweet friend and artist. From great conversation to Walking with Jesus paper we created this collaborative performance, Washed Away. We invited the audience to participate in a ritualistic, spiritual, reflective moment. Shannon started the performance by lighting a candle and then offering me the match box and said, "Write what you need to wash away". Then I invited the next audience member, James and he invited the next until everyone was participating. Once I wrote on my paper I swirled it in the white bowl of water in the middle of the circle. It dissolved before my eyes just like all the things I washed away.
